Q1 2026, last figure held on this site: €75.36
EU default: 3.9959 (charged at 4.3955 in 2026, incl. the 10% Annex I mark-up) · SEFA: 1.3640
Verification pays back in 1 months — well within the first year. The 9-year net benefit after verifier cost is €22,113,298. Engage a verifier immediately.
If your actual SEE is below the break-even value (1.3660 tCO₂e/t), the 9-year saving from verification exceeds the verifier cost of €7,500. Your estimated actual SEE (1.8000 tCO₂e/t) is above break-even — saving does not cover verifier cost at this SEE.

The single biggest driver. Doubling your volume doubles the saving — the verifier cost stays the same. Small exporters (below 500t) rarely justify verification; large exporters (above 10,000t) almost always do.
Efficient producers with actual SEE well below the EU default benefit most. EAF steelmakers, modern cement kilns, and efficient ammonia plants typically carry actual emissions 30–60% below the published default.
The price field starts at the latest official price of CBAM certificates the register holds (Q1 2026: €75.36) and you can enter your own level. The saving per tonne of gap scales with it — a higher price makes verification pay back sooner. No forecast is made here.
Verifier cost ranges are indicative market estimates — actual fees vary by verifier, scope, country, and installation complexity. Obtain quotes from at least two EN ISO/IEC 14065 accredited verifiers before committing. Not legal or compliance advice.
