If your actual SEE is below the break-even value (1.3660 tCO₂e/t), the 9-year saving from verification exceeds the verifier cost of €7,500. Your estimated actual SEE (1.8000 tCO₂e/t) is above break-even — saving does not cover verifier cost at this SEE.

What affects verification ROI most

Export volume

The single biggest driver. Doubling your volume doubles the saving — the verifier cost stays the same. Small exporters (below 500t) rarely justify verification; large exporters (above 10,000t) almost always do.

Gap between actual and default

Efficient producers with actual SEE well below the EU default benefit most. EAF steelmakers, modern cement kilns, and efficient ammonia plants typically carry actual emissions 30–60% below the published default.

EUA price trajectory

The price field starts at the latest official price of CBAM certificates the register holds (Q1 2026: €75.36) and you can enter your own level. The saving per tonne of gap scales with it — a higher price makes verification pay back sooner. No forecast is made here.
