What affects verification ROI most

Export volume

The single biggest driver. Doubling your volume doubles the saving — the verifier cost stays the same. Small exporters (below 500t) rarely justify verification; large exporters (above 10,000t) almost always do.

Gap between actual and default

Efficient producers with actual SEE well below the EU default benefit most. EAF steelmakers, modern cement kilns, and efficient ammonia plants typically carry actual emissions 30–60% below the published default.

EUA price trajectory

This calculator uses the Q1 2026 official price of €75.36. EUA prices are expected to rise as the market tightens. Higher EUA prices improve verification ROI significantly — the saving per tonne of gap grows proportionally.
